As Giorgi Lefsveridze, deputy technical director of Tbilisi Energy, said in the "Weekly" press club, the use of the hotline is free from the point of view of inspection.
"The use of open combustion chamber units has been reduced to a minimum, however, a second negative event has been identified, which is caused, again, by open combustion chamber units, and that is rental and mortgaged apartments. I will tell you a short statistic, in the last 3 years, out of 8 people who died from CO, all of them were in rented and mortgaged apartments accordingly, the new direction of our company, the new goal is to inspect and control all rented and mortgaged apartments. I would like to urge all apartment owners and all those people who are going to rent an apartment or have already rented it, to take advantage of our new project, new offer, call the number 240 40 04, this is our companys 24-hour hotline and request an inspection of the apartment you have rented or mortgaged. Also, according to the mentor of Tbilisi Energy, Davit Balavadze, the company has already verified more than 250,000 gas consumers, of which the violation is fixed at approximately 5%, which means that this figure is significantly reduced compared to previous years. According to him, 12 cases occurred, of which 1 case ended in death, and 11 ended in intoxication. According to Davit Balavadze, most of the 12 cases took place in a rented apartment.
"Since we are already entering the winter period and gas appliances are actively being used, I will give some recommendations to consumers. All consumers must make sure that the gas appliance installed in their home does not have an open combustion chamber. If you cant figure it out yourself, then definitely, you should contact us on the hotline. Also, there is no reason to use a gas stove for heating, I will say this emphatically, because there are cases when an apartment is rented and the owner offers it as a means of heating in winter.
